Resources for Flood Affected Employees 

 

 

 

Resource Information

We have identified resources that may be of assistance to you.  The city has set up mobile walk in centers in the city, from  8am-8pm at the following locations:

·         Roosevelt Middle School, 300 13th St. NW

·         Wilson Elementary School, 2301 J St. SW

·         United Way of East Central Iowa, 1030 5th Ave. SE

·         Echo Hill Presbyterian Church, 1700 B Ave. NE

FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Association) – to apply for federal financial assistance   for renters and homeowners.

Please have the following with you when you contact FEMA:

·         A phone number and a reliable alternative in case FEMA needs to call you back

·         Address of the damaged property

·         Social Security number

·         Current mailing address

·         Brief description of damages

·         Insurance information (if you have insurance)

·         Bank Account Information (if you are eligible for disaster assistance, you may choose to have the assistance check deposited directly into your bank account.

 

Once you register, a FEMA representative will contact you. 

 

Government disaster assistance covers basic needs only and will not normally compensate you for your entire loss.  If you have insurance, the government may help pay for basic needs not covered under your insurance policy. Some disaster aid does not have to be paid back, while other assistance may come in the form of loans.

After registering with FEMA, if you have questions about Other Needs Assistance (ONA) including repairs or replacement of personal property, repair or replacement of an essential vehicle, moving and storage expenses, disaster-related medical, dental and funeral expenses, or miscellaneous expenses.

Red Cross – to find resources for shelters, basic necessities and clothing.

As soon as Red Cross is allowed into the affected evacuated areas, they will be setting up a local Emergency Center.   You will be able to visit, where they will assess your individual situation and provide assistance as well.  Please watch the media for information on when this center is opening.
